Some businesses begin with extensive market research. Others begin with a problem experienced in everyday life. For Bhavyaa Chopra, the idea behind Nucco started in her own kitchen.
After making significant changes to her lifestyle over the past few years, Bhavyaa became increasingly conscious of what she ate and the ingredients that went into her meals. But one thing remained unchanged: her love for pasta.
Whenever she and her mother went out to eat, they struggled to find pasta and pizza options that aligned with their preference for better ingredients. Preparing alternatives at home wasn't particularly easy either. Finding the right pasta, a good-quality sauce and the restaurant-style flavours they enjoyed often required more effort than expected.
It was a small but recurring problem. Eventually, it became a business opportunity.
Alongside her mother, Bhavyaaa decided to build Nucco, a food brand focused on making pasta more convenient while bringing together ingredient choices, taste and simplicity.
Bigger Dreams Required Something of Her Own
Entrepreneurship wasn't an impulsive decision for Bhavyaa. She had always envisioned building something of her own. While working a job, she was also gathering the experience she believed she would eventually need to start a business.
For her, a conventional career was never the ultimate goal. She had bigger ambitions and wanted to build something that could give her the opportunity to pursue them.
Over the course of three to four years, the thought of starting a business became increasingly clear. She describes the decision as an intuition, an internal feeling that the time had finally come to take the leap.
Rather than waiting for a perfect opportunity, she decided to create one. That decision eventually took shape as Nucco.

The Problem Was Closer Than She Thought
The original inspiration came from a familiar consumer frustration.
Bhavyaa and her mother wanted to enjoy pasta at home without relying on conventional options that didn't match their ingredient preferences.
They explored alternatives, but there was another problem: the sauces. Finding a ready-made sauce that could recreate the restaurant-style Alfredo or Arrabbiata experience proved difficult. The available options didn't consistently deliver the taste they were looking for.
This helped them identify a gap that went beyond ingredients. Consumers wanted convenience, but they also wanted food that tasted good and offered a more considered ingredient profile.
For Bhavyaaa, the opportunity was to bring these expectations together in one product. Instead of building another conventional pasta brand, she wanted to rethink the entire experience of preparing pasta at home.
Building Nucco Around Three Principles
Developing the product required research into ingredients, food preferences and the overall experience Nucco wanted to deliver.
Bhavyaaa drew on the knowledge she had developed through her own lifestyle changes, exploring different ingredients and their applications in everyday food.
Nucco's product formulation uses durum wheat instead of maida, olive oil instead of palm oil, and cane sugar instead of refined sugar.
But the brand's positioning wasn't built around ingredients alone. Bhavyaaa established three core principles for Nucco:
Quality: A focus on ingredient selection, durum wheat pasta, olive oil and Italian-inspired sauces.
Taste: Creating rich, satisfying flavours without making consumers feel that choosing a different ingredient profile means compromising on taste.
Convenience: Simplifying pasta preparation through pre-boiled pasta and a separate sauce sachet.
Together, these principles became the foundation of Nucco's product proposition.
Why Two Minutes Became the Big Idea
One of the most important decisions was how Nucco would deliver convenience.
Traditional pasta preparation involves boiling the pasta, preparing the sauce and bringing everything together. Even when consumers purchase ready-made sauces separately, preparing a meal still requires multiple steps.
Nucco wanted to simplify that process.
Its product combines pre-boiled pasta with a separate ready-to-use sauce sachet, allowing consumers to prepare a pasta meal in approximately two minutes.
The process is straightforward: heat the pasta, add the sauce and mix.
The idea was to bring a more complete pasta experience into everyday households without requiring lengthy preparation.
This also shaped how Nucco wanted to differentiate itself. Rather than competing only with conventional pasta brands or products that offer seasoning powders, the brand focused on combining pasta and sauce in one convenient offering.
The proposition was simple: restaurant-inspired pasta flavours, easier preparation and carefully selected ingredients.
Understanding Who Nucco Is Building For
Nucco isn't targeting just one type of consumer.
Its intended audience includes young professionals looking for quick meals after work, working couples who want convenient food at home, families seeking easy-to-prepare options, and students who want satisfying meals without spending too much time cooking.
Fitness-conscious consumers and people becoming more mindful of ingredients are also part of the audience the brand wants to reach.
The underlying insight is that convenience isn't limited to traditional instant-food consumers. Even people who care about what they eat want products that fit into their schedules.
Nucco is positioning itself around this intersection of convenience, taste and ingredient awareness.
What's Next for Nucco?
For Bhavyaaa, building Nucco also means continuously improving the product.
One of the developments currently in progress is a new pasta variant designed to offer higher protein and fewer calories while maintaining the taste of the existing product.
Achieving that balance is an important part of the development process. The objective isn't simply to change the nutritional profile but to ensure that consumers continue enjoying the product.
It's an indication of how Bhavyaaa sees the brand evolving: through continued experimentation, product development and a deeper understanding of consumer preferences.
TEP Take
Nucco's story reflects an interesting opportunity in the evolving convenience-food category.
Consumers increasingly want products that save time without making them compromise on taste or the ingredients they prefer.
But identifying a gap is only the first step. The real challenge is building a product that consistently delivers on its promise.
For Bhavyaaa Chopra, what started as a personal search for a better pasta experience became the foundation of a business she is building alongside her mother.
Nucco's opportunity lies in making a familiar food experience more convenient for everyday households.
Sometimes, the starting point of a business isn't a complicated market thesis. It's simply noticing something missing from your own everyday life and deciding to build it.
